How do I go green?

Reduce

Buy products that use less packaging; leave boxes in the store for recycling. Use fewer large boxes rather than many small boxes in order to save trees.

Reuse

Disassemble and store any cardboard boxes between moves. Use them in the garden as a sheet mulching layer or shred them to use as a brown layer in your compost. Check Used Victoria for moving boxes being given away or to give them away yourself.

Recycle

Clean corrugated cardboard (no paint, oil or food, though food grease is okay) should be flattened and bound with string before being placed at the curb with your CRD Blue Box and Bag. Remember, the maximum bundle size is 90cm x 45cm x 20cm. Non-corrugated cardboard can be placed directly in your CRD Blue Bag; corrugated cardboard can also go in the CRD Blue Bag as long as it fits loosely. You can also recycle cardboard at Hartland Landfill in the Recycling Facility and at some other recycling facilities.
