There's more behind that beautiful smile and semi-annual visit to the dentist's office than one might expect.

How do I go green?

Reduce

Take care of your teeth and gums. Brush at least a couple times a day and floss daily.

Reuse

It is simpler and more cost effective to reduce or eliminate the generation of waste.

Recycle

Many dental suppliers and manufacturers offer safe storage and return programs to ensure the potentially toxic bi-products of dentistry are properly disposed of or recycled. The CRD’s Source Control program has details on how dentistry offices can best comply with dental waste disposal.

The Environmental Story

A number of the bi-products of modern dentistry require proper disposal. Mercury is used in amalgams while silver and other chemicals are used in the x-ray process.
