How do I go green?
Reduce
Do you really need another load of dirt trucked in for the backyard landscaping project? Could you make your own, through sheet mulching, composting or soil amendments?
Reuse
Use the fill somewhere else in the yard. For example, shore up a leaning retention wall or fill in that dangerous rabbit hole in the middle of the yard.
Recycle
There are paving and landscaping companies that will take it, although there may be a fee. Always call before you show up with any fill.

The Environmental Story
The fill itself does not pose much of an environmental challenge, but the transportation of said fill does. We humans burn a great deal of fossil fuels just moving dirt and other fill from one place to another.
