Microwave ovens are now a part of the new product stewardship program for small appliances, tools and exercise machines called ElectroRecycle, with free drop off locations throughout the CRD.

Reduce
Decided to get a new microwave oven? Pick the brand with the best energy savings and the smallest size for your needs. Consider brands with good recycling programs and green technology use. Look for models that come with less packaging and are made with recycled materials.
Reuse
Donate your old, working oven to a charity, community group, school or church. Offer it for free through Craigslist or UsedVictoria.
Recycle
Microwave ovens are considered scrap metal, even if they have a plastic exterior. They also now part of the new small appliance recycling program. Choose one of the listings below to or have a look the depot locator at Unplugged to recycle your old microwave oven.
