How do I go green?

Reduce

Print less. Accustom yourself to proofing documents on your computer and resist the urge to make copies for everyone in your department. Print only final versions. Back your work up on another hard drive to guard against data loss.

Choose a printer brand that accepts old machines for recycling and has a toner refill program. Look for models with lower energy demands, recycled materials and less packaging.

Reuse

Refilled ink and toner cartridges are your best bet for environmentally friendly printing. They reuse an existing cartridge, which saves energy needed to recycle and costs you less than buying a new cartridge. Refilled cartridges are available at many local computer stores.

Done with a working printer? Consider donating it to a local school, charity or non-profit.

Recycle

When you purchase a printer you now pay an eco fee, this allows you to recycle the printer without cost.
Not all of the facilities listed below are part of the Product Stewardship program.  If they are not they may charge a recycling fee.
